Do real candles work outdoors here or not?
Only inside glass. An open flame on the caldera rim has the life expectancy of a soap bubble; hurricane sleeves and lantern cases keep real fire alive through a normal breeze, and premium LED pillars — the kind with genuine flicker — take over on exposed evenings. In photographs at dusk, glassed flame and good LED are functionally identical. Pride is the only casualty.
What happens to petals in wind?
Loose petals leave. The working versions are anchored: dense petal borders glued or netted into shapes, arrangements weighted at the base, or petals used inside the dinner-table frame where walls do the holding. Venues also require complete cleanup — scattered petals are a contract line, not a gesture — so anchored designs serve both the photo and the checkout.
How long do we actually get for setup and teardown?
Plan on sixty to ninety minutes each way at hotels and restaurants — the gap between afternoon guests leaving and evening service beginning. Villas stretch this to a leisurely afternoon. The window shapes the design: scenes are built as modules that assemble fast, and anything requiring three hours of on-site construction belongs at a villa or not in the plan.
Which flowers still photograph well at dusk?
Whites, creams, blush, and warm yellows — they hold light as it fades and glow beside candles. Deep reds and purples turn near-black in low sun and vanish entirely by blue hour, which surprises couples who chose them from daylight photos. If the moment is at golden hour or later, we brief the florist to design for dusk, not for noon.
